The Enthusiast Alley
Playbook.
From finding a listing to keys in hand — here is exactly how buying, selling, and SafePay escrow works on this platform.
Once you've found a vehicle, rolling chassis, or a rare component from a part-out listing, here is how the offer and purchase process works.
Account Setup
To contact a seller directly or submit an offer, you must first create a profile and verify your phone number. Listing an item is entirely free. If you buy a vehicle or part using our secure SafePay Escrow, a 5% buyer fee (capped at $10,000 CAD) is added to the finalized purchase price.
Perform Due Diligence
Because Enthusiast Alley is a specialized platform for modified, track, and project cars, performing your own due diligence before making an offer is critical.
- →Review the Listing: Scrutinize the modification list, documented flaws, chassis structural photos, and maintenance history.
- →Engage the Seller: Use the public comments section for open technical questions, or use the direct message feature to discuss specific details.
- →Arrange an Inspection: For whole vehicles, arrange an in-person viewing or coordinate with the seller to have a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) completed at a reputable local shop at your expense.
Arrange Financing & Transport
Ensure your logistics are in order before submitting an offer.
- →Financing: If you plan to secure a line of credit or a specialized auto loan, have your pre-approval finalized. Keep in mind that traditional Canadian banks often have strict year and mileage restrictions on older enthusiast platforms (e.g., 90s JDM imports or older BMW chassis).
- →Shipping & Logistics: Discuss pickup timelines with the seller. If you are shipping a non-running shell, a project car, or a pallet of engine parts across provinces, secure a transport quote beforehand.
Make an Offer
We use a direct, manual offer system — there are no automated bidding timers or artificial countdowns.
- →Binding Offers: Submit your formal offer amount through the listing. Offers are serious commitments; only make one if you are fully prepared to execute the trade at that price.
- →Manual Selection: The seller reviews all incoming offers manually. They have complete freedom to accept, decline, or counter any offer based on price, buyer reputation, or logistics convenience.
Lock in the Deal
If the seller manually accepts your offer, the listing is marked as “Pending” (or if it's a part-out, that specific component is toggled to “Sold”).
- →SafePay Portal: You will immediately gain access to the secure SafePay Escrow portal to complete the transaction safely online.
- →Contact Details: Both parties receive direct, verified contact details to coordinate final vehicle or part handoff.
Enthusiast Alley is built to eliminate the lowballers, tire-kickers, and endless “Is this still available?” spam found on mainstream classifieds.
Choose Your Listing Type
Listing your gear is 100% free. You can list in one of two ways.
- →Standard Listing: Perfect for turn-key daily drivers, clean track builds, or standalone rare components (like a rare wheel set or a built engine block).
- →Part-Out Hub: Designed for stripped shells, drift missiles, or donor cars. Upload the vehicle as a whole, list all available components, and dynamically toggle individual parts as Available, Sold, or Not Present as buyers buy them up.
Create a High-Tier Listing
Enthusiasts buy with their eyes and their technical brains. To get top dollar:
- →Modification List: Provide a highly detailed modification list, including component brands, mileage on builds, and specific chassis tuning setups.
- →Photography: Take clear, well-lit photos. Include the standard exterior angles, but don't skip the critical enthusiast shots: frame rails, underbody rust checks, suspension components, and engine bays.
- →Video: For engines or whole cars, upload a quick cold-start and walk-around video.
Manage and Accept Offers
Once your listing is live, buyers can submit direct offers.
- →Full Control: You can let offers accumulate, chat with potential buyers in the comments, and manually accept the deal that makes the most sense for you.
- →No Penalties: There are no platform penalties for declining a lowball offer.
Escrow-protected. Scam-free.
Immediately after an offer is accepted, the buyer and seller are connected to finalize payment and logistics. We highly recommend using our built-in SafePay Escrow engine to ensure a scam-free transaction.
Secure the Funds
- →Buyer pays: The buyer submits payment securely online via SafePay (powered by Stripe Escrow).
- →Funds locked: The funds are locked safely in escrow. The seller is notified that the money is secure and that it is safe to ship the parts or hand over the keys.
Handoff & Title Transfer
- →For Parts: The seller ships the components or prepares them for local pickup. Once the buyer receives and verifies the parts, the funds are released directly to the seller's bank account.
- →For Vehicles: The buyer and seller complete a Bill of Sale (templates vary by Canadian province). If there is an active lien on the vehicle, both parties must coordinate with the lender to satisfy the loan during the payout. The seller signs over the provincial registration/title document.
Release & Payout
Once the vehicle title is transferred or the parts safely land, the escrow hold is released, and Stripe clears the funds directly into the seller's account.
What are the fees for buyers on Enthusiast Alley?
When purchasing through our platform using SafePay escrow, a 5% buyer fee is added to the finalized transaction price. This fee is safely capped at a maximum of $10,000 CAD, meaning high-tier builds and premium chassis aren't hit with uncapped percentage penalties.
How much does it cost to sell a car or a part-out?
Listing a car or part-out is 100% free. Pro Seller is $19/month for high-volume private sellers — unlimited listings, PRO badge, per-listing analytics, and Kijiji import. Dealer accounts are $99/month for dealerships and include the sourcing feed, Google Reviews on listings, and priority placement above private sellers.
What exactly is SafePay?
SafePay is our custom escrow integration built on top of Stripe. It eliminates the risk of Interac e-Transfer limits, fake bank drafts, or getting scammed when buying rare parts from a seller located three provinces away. The money is held safely by the network and only changes hands when the trade is successfully completed.
Are there rules to follow when commenting or posting in the community?
Yes. Conversation should stay focused on the vehicle or technical components at hand. A partial list of things that are moderated or banned includes:
- →Foul language or personal attacks.
- →Attempting to share personal contact info publicly to bypass the platform.
- →Spamming or hijacking comments to plug unrelated listings or outside businesses.
- →Intentionally undermining a seller's listing with unhelpful, non-constructive price commentary.
